Capri

“Nothing can be imagined more beautiful, bigger, more singular” (Joseph-Jérôme Lefrançois de Lalande)

Capri is the pearl of the Gulf of Naples. It is only three miles from Punta Campanella, the most extreme offshoot of the Sorrento peninsula and is just over an hour from the port of Naples.  It emerges from the sea with its unmistakable shape and the silvery color of the limestone of which it is made. Atmospheric agents have shaped it over the centuries, encircling it with fantastic rocks, piercing it with wonderful caves and covering it with luxuriant vegetation. Inhabited since prehistoric times, Capri has always charmed. The emperors Augustus and Tiberius built magnificent villas and gardens, whose remains can still be visited today. It was part of the Grand Tour d’Italie and since then it has become the favorite destination of foreign intellectuals, today, of the international jet set. Picturesque and chic, the spectacular nature is the perfect setting for its most famous places: the Piazzetta, the best place for a coffee or an aperitif under the Clock Tower, Via Camerelle the luxury shopping street, the wonderful Gardens of Augustus from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Faraglioni and finally Anacapri, more quiet, pleasant, from whose square leave, by chairlift, to the discovery of Monte Solaro, the highest and most panoramic point of the island, the place of the heart by Pablo Neruda, the Chilean poet who made this enchanting scenery the place of his exile and of his romantic love story with Matilda. Not to be missed, absolutely, the tour of the island by boat to fill your eyes, appreciate the scents and touch hands with its most enchanting places: the Blue Caves, Coral, Smeraldo, Bianca, the Natural Arch, the Faraglioni … kissing your partner under the middle stack will forever seal your love story. A real magic are the sunsets in Capri: the best is from Punta Carena. You can not leave the island without taking one of its “legendary” little bells or one of its ancient perfumes. Even if only for one day, it is worth getting lost among the naturalistic and artistic wonders of the Rock Queen, as Pablo Neruda defined it.
